Vegan Coconut Bacon

Vegan Coconut Bacon without liquid smoke

Ingredients

  • 125 g coconut large flakes
  • 18 g soy sauce
  • 18 g Maple Syrup
  • 11 g apple cider vinegar
  • 4 g smoked paprika

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 300Fand line a baking sheet with silicone paper. Place coconut flakes in a large bowl.
  • In a small bowl whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, cider vinegar and paprika.
  • Pour liquid mixture over coconut flakes and massage thoroughly.
  • Spread coconut over baking sheet in a very thin layer.
  • Bake for 12 - 15 minutes turning every 3 minutes. The coconut will turn a dark reddish brown colour and blacken at the edges.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool completely; the coconut will harden and crisp upon cooling.
  • Store in the refrigerator in an air tight container 2 - 3 weeks.
